Happy 2014! :o)
We have spent the past few weeks in Germany with our family. It has been such a beautiful time of rest and restoration for us after all of the busyness of our last semester of college! We spent new years in Austria in the Alps and I marveled at the goodness of God and the fireworks exploding in the sky to welcome the new year. Everything was covered in snow and it was just like being inside of a snow globe, magical! Europe is such a beautiful place, so rich in history and culture. One afternoon we left Austria and drove through the Alps to see Italy because it was only a thirty minute drive. Another day we drove to the Czech Republic to see the famous city of Karlovy Vary. This past weekend we went back to Austria to the city of Salzburg, which is where my ancestors came from before traveling to the Unites States to settle near Savannah. It was surreal to walk through the streets of Salzburg after a lifetime of hearing my Grandparents tell us so many stories of our heritage. It was such a beautiful gift from the Lord to go to Salzburg and it will always be a memory that I hold close to my heart.
The past 3 weeks have been wonderful! We have spent so much precious time with our family that we will never forget. & now our time in Europe is nearly over. We leave Wednesday morning to fly to the states and then we leave again Saturday morning for Peru. That’s a total of 3 countries and over 17 hours in airplanes in 4 days!
Holy moly.
I am so excitedddd!
I can’t wait to see all of my sweet friends in Peru. I can’t wait to dive back into the Spanish culture, to be constantly challenged to depend on God for even the simplest tasks, like shopping for food or having a conversation in Spanish! The pull on my heart is so strong to be back in Peru! I can’t wait to step foot on the ground there, to see the smiling faces of the friends that God has called us to serve.
When we get to Peru on the 18th, we will be staying in a church while we look for an apartment!! We don’t know how long we will be living in the church- we only know that God has an apartment already picked out for us and we are so excited to find it!! The church that we will be working with for the next year while we are in Peru is called New Life Church and it is actually an old movie theater that was donated to the Pastor! I’m kind of excited to live in a movie theater for however long! I just hope it has a shower… I’m really not sure!
So here we go, diving into a year of adventure in South America! This is what we have been waiting for and praying for during the past two years! For the next couple of weeks, we will probably have little or no internet access but I will be blogging again as soon as I can!
Chris & I love you guys and we are so thankful for you!!
P.S.
Lots of people have asked me what my plans are “after college” Here’s what I have so far:
1. Sell/give away everything
2. Pack the rest into one suitcase
3. Move to South America with my man
4. Learn how to be a mom
5. Love people like Jesus does :o)
