Just a little bit of life lately!
Unity week was so incredible! I was so blessed to be a part of an amazing team of leaders and work with them throughout the semester to host UNITY week at Georgia Southern! Here are a few photos of the week- mostly from the “Night of Prayer & Worship” because I led the team for that night.
We painted words on cardboard and His word came alive on old boxes. We wrote the life words with sharpie markers and painted His love letter in bright colors & the students came to pray. Students from all different denominations and nationalities bowed the knee to pray to the King. We lifted our voices and sang praises and offered prayers. The night was beautiful because we were singing to the God who created the beauty and in the middle of our campus His name was lifted high.
The cross was from our home church in Statesboro, CrossRoads Community Curch, where it had been used for 20 years in ministry. We loaded the cross into the truck and the wood was worn by the weather and I thought about how age makes things beautiful. The ancient ruins that we saw in Europe, my old farmhouse home, the lines worn into my Papa’s face from years of smiling that wonderful smile. Yes, age is a good thing. The wood on the cross was weathered and worn and white flowers were cascading, beautiful. Just like resurrection. Just like hope. We carried the cross to the ballroom at school and put it up right in the middle for everyone to see and it was magnificent and holy. God’s spirit was invited in and all at once it became a place of worship, holy and sancified and perfect. How marvelous and special it is that we can, as children of God, create a sanctuary at any moment, in any place.
The rest of the week was filled with God’s love. It was poured out onto students and children and campus bus drivers and everyone in between. Items were collected for the homeless and people were fed and groceries were provided and God’s healing love was poured out. He called us to go and so we went. Students went out into Statesboro all week long- to the hospital, nursing homes, neighborhoods. To our own campus, to our friends, to our classmates. To the hungry, the broken, the forgotten ones. Lives were changed and I watched as people caught the vision and gained the God sight and let Him love through them.
His love is overwhelming. It is never ending. and we have only just scratched the surface.
