Dear Jesus,
I sit here in the darkness waiting for the sunrise.
I write to you by candle light, listening to the silence of a world yet to wake.
The gravity of this day envelops me and closes in around me, wrapping me in hope. My entire hope, my entire faith, everything that I believe in, it is all centered around this day and what happened 2014 years ago.
Today, you changed history forever. You opened your eyes and your lungs filled with breath and you arose. It was then, in those first moments when your heart found its rhythm and your eyes focused and your sight was restored. It was then, when your feet were planted on the stone floor of the tomb and you stood for the first time as a resurrected king. It was then that my hope was born and my life gained purpose and my fears were conquered.
I awake today and await the day that is being born. You paint the sun into the sky and tell her to rise just as you have every single morning since your feet hit that stone floor and your heartbeat in your chest called out to my own in the years yet to come and even in that moment, I was yours. Time is conquered and you hold the keys to it all and suddenly everything must have been so clear to you as you arose on Easter morning and drew a line in the pages of time and gave the whole world a reason to live.
It was you. It is you. The one reason for life and hope and faith and dreams and love and redemption. They spoke of you that day, the same way we speak of you today, announcing with the greatest joy, HE IS RISEN!
